16-year-old dancer inspires many by breaking stereotypes of a ballerina

- Lizzy Howell’s Instagram of her ballet moves has inspired many
- She tells Teen Vogue that there are people who tell her she is not fit for dancing
- But instead of losing hope, she says no one can stop her to do what she loves
“It feels good to represent the diversity in dance.”
Lizzy Howell told this to Teen Vogue when she was interviewed for her video that has gone viral.
In the video that she posted on her Instagram, the 16-year-old dancer does a fouetté, testament to how amazing a dancer she is.
But her story proves how more of an amazing person she is.
Lizzy breaks the stereotype of a normal ballet dancer. Her weight, however, has never stopped her to continue dancing.
In the Teen Vogue feature, Lizzy said there were people who told her that dancing is not for her.
But she has a stronger statement on it: “My message to others is not to let people stop you from doing what you love,” she said. “If you love it, pursue it.”
She truly loves dancing that she is capable of dancing four dances: ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary. She started training at the age 5 when her mother died, a video by A+J mentioned.
For her, dancing is her way to ease anxiety caused by her condition. Lizzy was diagnosed in 2016 with pseudotumor cerebri. This is a condition that causes the excretion of excess fluid around the brain, which prompts headache and poor eyesight.
Here are some of her dance routines posted on Instagram:
